As someone who grew up partially in Saudi Arabia, I was very interested in taking a course from the Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures department while studying here. This class drew me in particularly because I have always been interested in both feminism and foreign films. Altogether, this class exposed me to an entire world of Middle Eastern feminist films and directors that I did not know about. In fact, this class exposed me to some films that had under 1000 total reviews online. That exposure furthered my interest in this topic and even ended up influencing which classes I ended up registering for the following quarter.
